Better Newspapers Competition
The Better Newspapers Competition is held each year from coast to coast, at both the provincial and national levels. It is the industry’s chance to realize excellence among its peers. It is also a celebration of the vibrancy and health of community newspapers in Saskatchewan and across Canada. Each year, the member papers of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association submit hundreds of entries showcasing their talent.
The Better Newspaper Competition is open to all SWNA member newspapers and anyone who is an employee, or a freelancer commissioned by an SWNA member newspaper.
2026 Finalists Announced!
The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association is proud to announce the finalists for the 2026 Better Newspapers Competition.
This year, judges reviewed hundreds of submissions across multiple categories, carefully evaluating each entry based on criteria such as quality of writing, depth of reporting, visual appeal, and overall impact.

Annual General Meeting
The 2026 Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:30 PM via Zoom, immediately following the Better Newspaper Competition Awards Presentation.
